Privacy Policy
Sparrow is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no email sign-up and no analytics. This policy explains exactly what goes where. It is provided by Sparrow, the seller of Sparrow.
In short
- Your transcripts, answers, notes and resume are saved only on your computer.
- During a session, audio, text and screenshots you capture pass through our server to speech and AI providers to produce answers. Our server doesn’t store or log them.
- Our server keeps an anonymous record per computer: its minute balance, session times and purchases — never your name or email.
- Stripe handles payments; we never see your card.
- We don’t sell, rent or share your information for advertising.
1. Stored on your computer
Sparrow saves transcripts, answers, session history, settings, your notes, role context and any resume you import in its private application-data folder on your computer. They stay there until you delete them. Sparrow also saves an encrypted activation file — a device token and a private signing key — that proves to our server which computer is asking. Screenshots you capture for screen analysis are not saved in session history.
2. Sent to produce answers
While a session is running, Sparrow sends through our server:
- Audio from the sources you choose (system audio, microphone or both) to Speechmatics for transcription;
- Text — the question, recent transcript, your notes and role context — and any screenshots you capture to AI models through OpenRouter, which routes requests to model providers such as Cerebras, Google, OpenAI and Z.ai.
Our server relays this content in real time and does not store or log it. The providers process it to return transcripts and answers under their own terms and privacy policies. Content you send may include information about other people on your call; please make sure you have the right to share it (see the Terms).
3. What our server keeps
- A device record for each computer: a one-way hash of its device token, its public signing key, a salted one-way hash of the computer’s hardware identifier, and its minute balance. The hardware hash lets us give one free trial per computer and restore purchased minutes after a reinstall on the same computer. The identifier itself never leaves your computer.
- Session records: when each session started and ended and how much time was charged.
- Purchase records: the Stripe checkout and payment references, pack, amount and currency, a hash of the purchase code, which device redeemed it and any refund date. We don’t receive or store your name, email or card.
- Technical logs with an internal device number, models used, timings, sizes, charged time, provider status codes and purchase outcomes. Codes, tokens and conversation content never appear in logs.
- Network addresses are used in memory to limit abuse, such as repeated free trials, and are not written to our database. Our hosting provider may record them briefly in its own access logs.
4. Payments
Purchases are processed by Stripe on its own checkout page. Stripe collects your payment details, email and billing country to take payment, prevent fraud, calculate tax and send your receipt, under the Stripe Privacy Policy. Stripe tells us only what’s needed to deliver your code.
5. This website and update checks
This website uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Like any website, our host processes your network address and browser details to deliver pages and protect against attacks. After a purchase, your browser remembers locally that it already saved your code file, so it isn’t downloaded twice. The Sparrow app asks this website which version is current every few hours (you can turn this off in Settings); that request includes only the app’s version.
6. Why we process information
We process the information above to provide the service you asked for (transcription, answers and your minutes), to take payment and meet tax and accounting duties, and, where it is in our legitimate interest, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse of the free trial.
7. How long we keep it
Device and session records are kept while they are needed to provide your minutes and resolve disputes. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider. Information on your computer is kept until you delete it.
8. Who processes it
- Speechmatics — speech recognition
- OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to — answers and screen analysis
- Stripe — payments
- Railway — hosting for our server and its database
- Vercel — hosting for this website
These providers may process information in the United States and other countries, with the safeguards their own policies describe.
9. Your choices and rights
You can delete your local history at any time from Sparrow’s data folder, shown in Settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your information. Because there are no accounts, we can only find a device or purchase record if you send something that identifies it, such as your Stripe receipt or purchase code. Write to hello@getsparrow.app. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
10. Children
Sparrow is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly process children’s information.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, say so on this website.
12. Contact
